This web site is dedicated to promoting the Friends of the Fort Lewis Military Museum and their mission to support the Military Museum at Fort Lewis, Washington.

The Friends

The Friends of the Fort Lewis Military Museum were organized in 1973 to provide volunteers, monetary assistance, and encouragement for the Fort Lewis Military Museum. The Friends believe that the story of our Soldiers, their families, and supporters must be preserved to educate and inspire future generations of Americans. The Friends are a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping the history of the United States Army alive by supporting the Fort Lewis Military Museum and its programs. The Friends membership includes active duty and retired military personnel as well as patriotic citizens from all walks of life. Friends receive a quarterly newsletter, a discount at our gift shop, and the opportunity to participate in meetings and programs. Please help us to promote an appreciation and awareness of our priceless military heritage by becoming a Friend.

The Cannon Shop

The Cannon Shop is temporarily closed during the Museum restoration. Please see below. Selected items from the gift shop may be still ordered by using the links above. The Friends operate an attractive gift store, named the Cannon Shop. A fine selection of merchandise, selected to represent the heritage of the Army and Fort Lewis, is offered to the public at extremely reasonable prices. Members of the Friends receive a 10% discount on all purchases (in store only). The Cannon Shop is open from 12:00 - 4:00 pm Wednesday - Sunday.

The Fort Lewis Military Museum

The Museum will be closed until the spring of 2011 for a major restoration of the historic building and renovation of all displays. For further information, please contact us by email at friendsmuseum2@gmail.com or call (253) 967-7207. The Fort Lewis Military Museum was established in 1972. Its mission is to collect, preserve and interpret the history and memorabilia associated with this historic post and the Army units that have served here through the years. The Museum also displays materials relevant to the role of the United States Army in the exploration, settlement and defense of the Pacific Northwest. The Museum has an extensive collection of original uniforms, weapons, and equipment used by the U.S. Army. An outdoor vehicle park displays historic tanks, cannons, and other military vehicles associated with Fort Lewis. The Fort Lewis Military Museum is open to the General Public from 12:00 - 4:00 pm Wednesday through Sunday, Special tours can be arranged at other times for appropriate groups.
